How Much Does Stump Grinding Cost?
We have a minimum flat rate fee of $95.00 and will grind up to 5 stumps if the total falls short of the minimum price. From this simple flat rate fee there are only a few other factors that will affect the price to you:
- For stumps greater than roughly 25” in diameter, the price will exceed the minimum rate of $95.00. Given this scenario, the fee is easily determined by a simple calculation of size as measured by its largest diameter. Please see our article titled “How to Measure a Stump”. - $1.00 / mile maximum, one way for travel distances more than 20 miles from our business center just north of Baldwin, MI 49304. Only the miles over 20 are calculated.
- Reduced gate openings between 38″ and 52″, there is a fee of $30.00 to modify the stump grinding machine in order it passes through the gated opening. It is not possible for any of our machines to fit through a gate opening of less than 38” which is very tight.
- Restricted access areas or poor ground conditions must be evaluated onsite.
- Please let us know if this applies in advance of scheduling your work.
- Underground utilities within 10 ft. of a stump must be evaluated onsite.
- Stump heights over 12 inches above the ground for smaller-sized stumps and much less for larger-sized stumps will affect the cost of grinding a stump. The closer they are cut to the ground, the better. Taller stumps either need to be flush cut, which is an extra fee, or can significantly increase the time, amount of debris, and cost to grind. If hiring a tree service to remove a tree, be sure to negotiate upfront that the stump is to be cut within a couple of inches of the ground.
